![]() ![]() I decided to take it to a different gunsmith to get it fixed. This is actually described in the instructions that come with the handguard, which I in fact gave to the gunsmith. When installing the barrel nut the proper torque must be reapplied 3 times. The person I spoke to at LaRue informed me that the anti rotation device matters less than the proper torque being applied to the barrel nut to prevent wiggle. So I immediately went home and called LaRue. ![]() I thought to myself, it seems like they are the common denominator here. I took it as a red flag that they “See these issues all the time with high end equipment”. They blamed LaRue for selling crappy products and said they see these issues all the time with high end equipment not working right. When I arrived they showed me how the anti-rotation device was a little too wide and didn’t fit snuggly around my upper causing a slight wiggle. I left it in their hands for a couple hours until they called me and told me it was ready to be picked up. I initially took the handguard to a local gunsmith that had great reviews. Additionally the rails are surprisingly comfortable to hold even without any sort of covers on them. When I took it to the shop, the gunsmith had to call his buddy over so they could both marvel at it’s lightness. First of all, as far as quad rails go, the LaRue is extremely light. But I decided to try the LaRue anyways and am so glad that I did. I thought it would be too heavy and uncomfortable to hold - neither of which turned out to be true. What took me so long to come around to LaRue was because I initially did not want a quad rail. When I took it to the shop, the gunsmith had to call is buddy over so they could both marvel at it’s lightness. The rails already had a lot of their coating scratched off, while still in the package! That’s when I decided I was going to go with something higher end. What made me decide against them was seeing a set for sale at Cabela’s in terribly poor packaging. I got to hold an M&P10 that had Midwest Industries handguards on it and I really liked them. ![]() For a good while I thought I was going to go with the Midwest Industries G3 M-LOK handguard. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which free floating handguard I was going to go with.
